Wendy recalls her beginnings at Bard College, NY in the 1960’s, surrounded by the influences of abstract art and minimalism, her time thereafter in Vermont, honing her drawing skills and exploring new themes in a variety of mediums. By the mid 1980’s she was in California, where her color field studies gained momentum and her commercial art career was initiated. Before long she was producing on average 50 pieces a year, from monotypes to acrylics and mixed media on canvas. Intermittent travels to Portugal, Bali, Mexico, among other destinations, influenced her work, as well as her personal relationships and the loss of close friends. By the early 2000’s Wendy found herself on the Vineyard, and soon became known for her characteristic minimalist interpretations of her favored barn at the Keith Farm, occasionally the stone walls in Chilmark, with an ever increasing and deeper exploration of color and abstraction.
