Season 2025 -2026

UPCOMING MUSIC NIGHTS..

The Washashores, formed in 2024, features Phil Spillane on lead vocals, harp and guitar, Moe Moriarty on lead and slide guitar, Paul Thurlow on bass and vocals and Martin Cummings on drums. True to their name, all of the band members “washed ashore” on the Vineyard from other locations. They perform a mix of Blues, Classic Rock and originals, with a healthy dose of good ol’ Grateful Dead. This will be their second appearance at Pathways and they are looking forward to raising the temperature on a cold winter’s night with some high-energy jamming.

Daughter and Father duo Sam and Seth Cooperrider play an acoustic set of country-adjacent tunes.

Friday March 6th, 2026
Erik Peterson opens for
David Mintz &
Darby Patterson

Although music had always come naturally to Erik, he decided to further his musical knowledge with a degree from the Berklee College of Music in Boston. It was there that he received the experience and the tools necessary to become a professional recording artist, giving him the confidence he needed to produce his first record “Piano Meditations”. Soon after that, he released his second album “Always the Season” an energized piece of work incorporating the vocal talents of many other top singers.
Erik grew up on the island of Martha’s Vineyard, enjoying the fun summers on the beach and the long cold winters as a year round resident. In addition to writing and producing records, he has shared the stage with many other well known artists such as Grammy winner Paula Cole, blues-pop teen idol Johnny Lang, saxophonist Warren Hill, singer Carly Simon, blues legend Taj Mahal, Earth Wind and Fire’s Al Mackay, Michael Jackson guitarist David Williams, weather report drummer Ndugu Chanceler and jazz great Barbara Morrison, to name a few.

Darby Patterson & David Mintz as D&D

Darby Patterson and David Mintz have delighted audiences with their combined skills, shared love of vocal jazz, and characteristically goofy stage presence. They are pleased to make their Pathways Arts debut as a duo. Their program features standards by 20th-century masters like Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, and George Gershwin, along with bilingual bossa nova by Antônio Carlos Jobim.

Since she makes a living by talking and singing, Darby Patterson loves to keep her bios short and sweet: Darby is a homegrown vocalist, flower farmer, and former pro coffee slinger. She is thrilled to be here, playing jazz with David and enjoying the bliss of of-season shows!

“Bad Dog” David Mintz was once an accomplished classical guitarist who gave it up in favor of stable employment as a Spanish interpreter in federal court. In retirement, he went back to music, turning his attention to the Great American Songbook. Since washing ashore, his performances at several venues on the island have been warmly received. He has also gotten a couple of tastes of acting without getting booed off the stage. The attention-craving eccentric can be seen walking his dog around Oak Bluffs and singing loudly, even when he’s not high on anything.

Friday January 9th, 2026 With a catalog spanning 17 solo albums over three decades, Rees Shad’s journey is a testament to his unwavering commitment to artistic growth as he “has been on a relentless quest to push the boundaries of musical storytelling” (Seth Rogovoy). Each release serves as a chapter in his ongoing exploration of sound, story, and the human experience. From the early days when critics dubbed him a “wordsmith to watch,” to his current status as a celebrated songwriter and performer, Shad’s evolution has been nothing short of remarkable.
He has shared the bill with a wide variety of performers including Leon Russel, Emmylou Harris, Graham Parker, Guy Clark, Joe Ely, The Adam Ezra Group, The Subdudes, Bap Kennedy, The Screaming Trees, Uncle Tupelo, Madeleine Peyroux, Michelle Shocked, Darden Smith, Amy Rigby, The Kennedys, David Massengill, and many others

Saturday December 27TH. 4pm Till…
THE L.A.B presented

The L.A.B is coming back to Pathways with what could be the biggest youth event to ever occur on the Vineyard, featuring 8 artists currently, plus 2 DJs with more artists to be announced. It is sure to be one big PathwaysPalooza.

4:00 DOORS OPEN

DJ SKOOT will be jamming tracks throughout the set change time, making sure the vibes are on 10 no matter what time you’re there.

THE PRECISE TIMES BELOW ARE PRETTY SUSPECT BUT WE BELIEVE IN THE ORDER…

4:15 – 4:40….DAJ – multi-genre singer, rapper & producer, Adagio has been making waves on the Vineyard for their expressive, music. With a strong message of inividuality, positivity and a set list that will make you sit & think at times, and get up and dance at others.

4:50 – 5:15….HANNAH SPARROW (QueenOfCups) A calm before the storm in a way. Her unique use of an omnichord guarantees that you haven’t heard anything like her before. Unique music made with a unique instrument.

5:25 – 5:45….RHUBARB.DUO – Western Mass based Noise-Rock band will be wash-ashores for the night. They’ve been making waves through their scene with their unique rhythms and raw emotional intensity. Seeing this band is almost more like an experience than a show.

5:55 – 6:25….RAVEYARDD ELLIOTT from The L.A.B., Possibly the first Witch House Artist to play on MV. Western Mass/Vineyard based RAVEYARDD brings a futuristic borderline ambient, electronic sound to this show. Lights off, vibes on.

6:35 – 7:05….THE KOSH OLIVER from The L.A.B, hard beats wild lines & a hint of acting are combined in this Supergroup. ( it’s just one dude). Comedy that goes hard.

7:20 – 7:45….THE DIVERGENTS – They played Pathways before. Hyper political punk band. While their music may sound brash, their lyrics dive deep, with topics such as anarchy, depression and political issues. Loud and unapologetic.

7:55 – 8:20….TAXIDERMISTS – Longtime Vineyard musicians Sal Esposito & Cooper Handy, bring a raw, Lo-Fi feel to catchy 2000’s era indie. After releasing their first album in 5 years, and supporting cloud rap legend “Yung Lean” on his recent tour, they are ready to return to their forming grounds for a legendary performance.

8:30 – 9:40….The L.A.B. THE KOSH OLIVER and RAVEYARDD ELLIOTT will come together at the end of the night to give one last iconic L.A.B performance from Pathways (for now)

2024 – 2025 SEASON PAST MUSIC EVENTS
more past music & other past events HERE

Saturday April 19th

A short presentation by Tony Tobia;
My presentation will be somewhat interactive with the audience as we listen to different versions of the same work. For example, I will present a String Ensemble, a Brass Ensemble, and a Choral Work of the same composition for the purpose of hearing from whomever in the audience, their response to what each version of the piece evoked for them, that is, with respect to their emotions, or what image or images came to their mind and/or adjectives such as joyful, melancholic, scary, etc.

I’m hoping to bring to the Pathwayans a greater awareness to the fact that the same composition can evoke significantly different emotions, images, thoughts by changing the arrangement/instrumentation, and even by simply changing the key that it’s in, for example, transposing the piece to a higher or lower pitch key.

Douglas Brush returns playing blues and folk “finger-style” tradition: John Fahey, Mississippi John Hurt, Robert Johnson and more. Possible duets with Eric Johnson.

Singer Songwriter Lydia Fischer opens, an island raised farmer and educator. They attended Berklee College of Music before settling back down on the island where they run their own 1/4 acre vegetable farm and assistant teaches 4th grade at the West Tisbury School. Lydia will be performing a set of groove-driven songs that they wrote way back when, interspersed with a few of their own takes on other people’s songs.

Punk Hip Hop Historical Icons w/ THE L.A.B.
and A Local Youth Punk Debut Performance – The Scumshots

This is an all ages show. No alcohol served.

Douglas Brush will be playing an hour long program of music by three of the most prominent composers for ‘classical’ nylon-stringed guitar.  First, the ‘godfather’ of 20th century guitar music, Francisco Tárrega, who combined classical forms with Spanish folk elements and revived the guitar as a legitimate solo concert instrument.  Next, some selections from Heitor Villa-Lobos, generally considered Brazil’s greatest composer.  He also blended his country’s folk traditions with European “art music” to push the instrument’s  repertoire forward significantly.  Last, music by Cuba’s most famous classical composer, Leo Brouwer, whose early works evoked Afro-Cuban rhythms and themes but later turned increasingly towards “non-traditional” harmonies and structures.   He plans to speak briefly about each of the composers and provide the audience with a write-up of brief biographies and listening suggestions.

“Solo guitar music is some of my absolute favorite art but I feel few people seek it out, even lovers of “classical” music.  One of my main goals is to inspire some people who attend to leave and listen to these artists…and maybe drum up a bit of work for next spring and summer?”

A genre defying ensemble, Lake of Autumn bends the perception of time and space with their wide ranging instrumental compositions. Built around asymmetrical song structures with quick pivots and odd meters, they use drums (Anthony Esposito), bass (Sean Clarke) and guitar (Noa Maxner) to deliver an intense and immersive sonic experience.
