PoP Friction: Shades of Love

POP FRICTION: SHADES OF LOVE – February 9, 2019
Ensemble Concert Showcasing Established Vineyard-based Talent at Pathways ARTS

A special event  Saturday, February 9 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. will bring romantic nostalgia and intrigue to Pathways ARTS. The event, titled “Pop Friction: Shades of Love,” is a sequel to last year’s “True Romance” concert, which focused on jazz standards. This year, the genre is 1960s-70s and retro pop, featuring an ensemble of vocalists and musicians recognized at the local, regional, and national levels.

This pre-Valentine’s Day event includes the following performers collaborating as an ensemble on a repertoire developed in a workshop format: Siren Mayhew, Sean McMahon, Christine Seidel, George Davis, Aaron Lowe, Julius Lowe, and Laura Walton. Included are songs by Chicago, The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Queen, Amy Winehouse, Jeff Buckley, and Shirley Bassey.  Bios and Program below…

The event is co-sponsored by the creative collaborative The Muse Martha’s Vineyard (The Muse MV), which was established last year as a result of a grant from Ernie Boch, Jr.’s Music Drives Us foundation, based in Norwood, Massachusetts. The initial Muse MV project was a series of singing and songwriting workshops for youth during the winter months on the island.
